My counselling practice and mindfulness meditation teaching began over 20 years ago. Over that time I have worked in a diverse range of settings including family therapy and family support, hospice and palliative care, grief and loss and community health. Most of my work involves assisting with anxiety, depression, and grief and loss.
My approach is eclectic – I have post-graduate training in Rogerian/client centered therapy, loss and grief counselling and Family Therapy; I use mindfulness and mindfulness-based CBT in therapy sessions, and teach mindfulness practices to use outside of therapy to assist with managing stress, difficult emotions and relationships..
Working collaboratively within a bio-psycho-social framework, my experience is that many of the difficulties we encounter in living have multiple causes –there are connections with many other parts and times of our lives. Exploring these connections, how we feel on the inside, and what is happening on the outside, we can find a way through our current difficulties to a place of greater ease and contentment, and start moving forward in life again.
I am happy to talk about my approach to counselling. Feel free to call or email me.
